Position Description
Employees in this classification are responsible for planning, executing, and supervising fire prevention and fire code enforcement for Campus facilities, and may include Regional Campuses. May directly supervise Fire Safety Division personnel. Work is performed under conditions which may require exposure to dangerous sites where a fire has occurred.

Major/Essential Functions
Performs building inspections and review new and renovation plans to ensure code compliance. Provide fire and life safety training to the campus community. Conducts investigations into the cause and origin of all fire alarms occurring on campus. Works after hours special events to ensure the safety of attendees. Works with the State Fire Marshal's Office for all fire related issues.

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. NFPA Fire Inspector 1 or equivalent or the ability to obtain within one year of employment. Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Investigator or equivalent or the ability to obtain within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced levels of certifications, intermediate through advanced. Skills and training through schools and on the job training.
