Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Affairs. The Director of Clinical Affairs oversees the clinical components of the nursing education programs to ensure planning of clinical course delivery and outcomes. This person performs community outreach to seek, develop, establish, and coordinate new clinical/community sites for appropriate clinical experiences for nursing students, and coordinates Caring Science Unit (CSU) development, delivery, oversight, and evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee hiring, orientation, teaching assignment, and evaluation of part-time clinical nursing faculty.
  • Oversee clinical Administrative Assistants who ensure students are appropriately scheduled and cleared for clinical attendance, contracts are maintained and updated, and consortium requests are submitted prior to deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clinical and community partners.
  • Provide Caring Science Unit oversite and training in partnership with Caritas Coach Faculty.
  • Establish, maintain, and evaluate effectiveness of Caring Science Unit partnerships.
  • Lead strategic collaborations with clinical, community, and healthcare agencies.
  • Engage in clinical and PTI budget planning with the Dean of Nursing.
  • Ensure program compliance with Nevada State Board of Nursing regulations and clinical partner's requirements for nursing student's participation in clinical experiences.
  • Ensure consistent application of SON policies that relate to the delivery of clinical education.
  • Provide training and orientation for clinical faculty and students.
  • Evaluate program outcomes related to clinical education.
  • Compile and submit program reports and faculty related data for review to the Associate Dean of Nursing and the Dean of Nursing.
  • Submit program reports and faculty related data for recommendations to the Associate Dean of Nursing and the Dean of Nursing as related to clinical/community sites/events.
  • Act as the first point of contact for clinical faculty and student concerns related to clinical instruction.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or higher degree in nursing OR administration related field from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
  • Two (2) years of experience in leadership or equivalent education.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to education, mentoring, and working with undergraduate nursing students.
  • Commitment to creating an academic environment that supports students while holding them accountable for meeting minimum expectations.
  • Commitment to the promotion of Caring Science in every interaction with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
  • Highly effective oral communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with outcomes assessment, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in nursing higher education.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, an unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Nevada.
  • Certified Nurse Educator
  • Knowledge of nursing education regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Experience as a nursing generalist, working with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses.
  • Experience teaching nursing at the BSN, or higher, degree level.
  • Two (2) years of administrative or leadership experience in nursing education.


Rank, Salary & Benefits

This is a non-tenure-track, Administrative Faculty 12-month position. Budgeted salary range for this position is $95,000-115,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
