Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Director of Academic Assessment. As our Director, you will help us design and implement a comprehensive system of student learning outcomes (SLO) and academic program assessment that builds on existing assessment efforts and supports future institution-level planning and resource allocation. In doing so, you will provide expertise in program and SLO assessment, identify meaningful assessment strategies that fulfill accreditation expectations, help faculty to improve their programs, and oversee assessment reporting.

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives and Strategy, you will work with administrators in the Office of the Provost to oversee academic assessment efforts across campus. You will direct faculty and other stakeholders as they develop and implement appropriate plans for assessment of student learning outcomes and academic programs. This includes working with faculty committees to design effective SLO assessment strategies, planning assessment retreat days, and following up with committees to monitor the implementation of improvement plans based on assessment findings.

In this position, you have the opportunity to contribute to the development of an expanding assessment infrastructure aimed at ensuring we have adequate leadership for the essential task of assessing student and academic program outcomes. To be successful, you should have an entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to execute your professional duties with a significant degree of expertise and autonomy, and a strong desire to collaborate with faculty. Successful employees at NSC are defined by a strong work ethic, innovative spirit, data-driven philosophy, and a willingness to contribute to the development of a modern institution in substantive ways. The atmosphere we engender is one of enthusiasm, dedication, camaraderie, and effective collaboration.
