Job Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Health Center (SHC) is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, planning, administration, organization and evaluation of the various medical, IT and health education programs and services offered through the SHC in support of the students at Cal State Fullerton. The Director provides the strategic leadership for SHC ensuring that quality service is provided that meets the evolving needs of our student population. In addition to administrative oversight of the health center and the many services provided, including chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, optometry, orthopedics, pharmacy, Family PACT, x-ray, lab and health education, the Director also oversees and is responsible for the annual operating budget of $7.2M for both Student Health Services (SHS) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Updates the AVP on the use of financial resources, including facilities, supplies and equipment of SHC and works in collaboration with CAPS director on the use of financial resources and shared budget. Other duties include, but are not limited to, accreditation, emergency preparedness, compliance with all State and Federal regulations for the safety of medical information (HIPAA), knowledge and compliance of lab and x-ray procedures and laws (OSHA), risk management, procurement, contractual outside vendors and services, assessment of programs and services, Human Resources, management of personnel issues, conflict management and strategic planning. The Director also serves as the information systems officer and oversees the maintenance and integrity of the electronic medical records system. The Director works closely with the Associate Vice President regarding mission, goals and programs, outreach services, staff development, budget, personnel, resource management, assessment, sustainability and overall direction of SHC. The Director coordinates as appropriate with campus and community stakeholders and partners and serves on the Student Affairs Executive Committee and the Associate Vice President's leadership team. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Master's degree required in Business, Public Administration, or other health related field from an accredited University or College. Five to ten years of experience in a leadership position working in a health care setting, along with strong financial/budget management skills including a thorough knowledge of the principles of accounting in preparing and monitoring budget. Knowledge of the business operations of health care ambulatory practice. Knowledge of and skills in working with, and relating to, a culturally diverse student population, faculty, and staff. Experience working in a college health setting. Strong knowledge of medical information systems including security, operations and best practices. Good personal skills and knowledge of basic computer operations including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, list serves and electronic mail. Must have knowledge of IT policy and security regulations, specifically HIPAA, as it relates to access and protection of electronic medical data. Strong communication and writing skills with ability to write reports, create job descriptions and communicate effectively with staff. Strong experience in supervision of a diverse and large professional staff.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
