Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco School of Law is seeking an innovative, team-work driven, flexible candidate who thrives in a dynamic culture to partner with the Assistant Dean, Development and Alumni Relations, and the rest of the law school Development and Alumni Relations team, in engaging alumni and increasing the fundraising results for the School. Ideal candidates will have proven proficiency in the areas of executive level support, research, data base maintenance, budget tracking and customer service.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean, Development and Alumni Relations, the coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development work with the law school's alumni and friends. The development coordinator will help cultivate existing relationships and support the establishment of new ones by doing prospect and donor research, developing meeting briefings, drafting fund raising proposals, assisting in the creation of stewardship reports, and other strategic alumni communications. The coordinator will also be responsible for drafting grant requests and researching small family foundations and other sources of institutional support. The coordinator will also pull reports from Salesforce, help track fundraising results and develop lists for visits, events and other cultivation activities. The coordinator will help manage the logistics of meetings for the law school's two alumni boards, the Board of Governors and the Board of Counselors. In addition, the coordinator will manage the department's student workers. The efforts of the coordinator will support the School of Law's long-term development and alumni relations strategy to deepen the law school's connection to donors and alumni locally and nationally and to substantially increase the level of giving from donors and alumni to the School of Law.

Independent judgment and decision-making, initiative, good decision making, project management, follow through, excellent customer service, strong writing abilities and a high level of professionalism and discretion are required for successfully managing the donor and alumni relationships at the School of Law. A commitment to, and demonstrated practice of responsiveness to donor requests, needs and concerns is essential in this role. This role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze data and make recommendations based on data and predetermined outcomes. Must be able to both generate and implement ideas.

Job Responsibilities:

Support major gift donor and top prospect engagement and solicitation efforts by coordinating donor meetings, helping with meeting preparation and creating meeting and event briefs.
Provide research for School of Law development team on prospects and donors attending events or meeting with development team members, University leadership or other law school leadership.
Serve as the point person for the department in generating lists and reports.
Serve as the point person for collaborating with development services and the stewardship team in central development in updating law school donor and alumni

information, responding to questions about acknowledgement letters and collecting information for donor stewardship reports created by the University (on behalf of the School of Law). Also responsible for personally managing the creation and production of additional stewardship reports to School of Law donors not otherwise reported to by the University.
Manage the acknowledgement process for the School of Law ensuring letters are accurate, timely and reflective of the level of personalization appropriate to the donors relationship with the law school. Design and carry out additional stewardship activities for donors as needed.

Collaborate with Assistant Dean and Associate Director of Development in identifying various populations of alumni and donors who would benefit from special attention. Partner in developing strategies to engage new prospects and retain donors.
Review and analyze donor reports and records in order to contribute to strategic engagement plans for School of Law alumni and donors. Enter contact reports as needed
Oversee the implementation of donor recognition including signage and gifts and the annual on-line donor honor roll
Support the cultivation and engagement of alumni by responding to requests for information and communicating with development services about known changes to addresses and other contact information
Manage small fund raising projects for other law school departments or progams.
Hire, train, supervise, and manage workflow of departments student workers. Oversee major student projects including calling campaigns, drafting of acknowledgments and event related assignments. Ensure the professional development and retention of the student workers
Draft, proofread, and edit correspondence and other communications.
Manage department budget ensuring expenses do not exceed approved budget
Administer vendor payments as needed (purchase orders/check requests)
Coordinate with Development Services staff to design reports and ensure proper coding and reporting of constituent data.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree required
Knowledge of the legal responsibilities and university rules specific to the management of donor restricted funds and charitable gifts
Minimum of four years of progressively responsible development experience, or equivalent, in an academic or non-profit environment
High emotional intelligence, demonstrating excellent relationship building skills with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders. An intuitive understanding of what will make donors, prospects, alumni and colleagues feel appreciated
Exceptional communication skills, advanced interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively build mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse group of people
Strong writing skills, especially in a persuasive style. Excellent editing skills
Creativity, flexibility and a dedication to process improvement
Confortable with change and ambiguity
Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive donor material
Independent judgment and resourcefulness to plan, prioritize and manage a diversified workload and to recommend changes in office practices and procedures
Strong word processing skills and knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office
Project management expertise
Database experience
Managerial, supervisory and fiscal administrative skills
Knowledge of development and alumni relations best practices
Ability to work some nights and weekends
