USC Upstate invites applications for the 12-month tenure track position of Dean of the Library from innovative, collaborative leaders passionate about student success. The Dean will join USC Upstate library at a momentofmajortransitionand growth, as the library completes amajor renovationof the building and continues implementation of a statewidesharedlibrary service platform. Under the direction of the Provost, the Dean of the Library plays a vital role in USC Upstate's commitment to academic excellence, collaborative teaching and learning, and community engagement,while advocating for the essential role of the library and its 13 faculty and 12 staff members in those endeavors.

Key Duties
Direct and manage all administrative, operational, service, and technical functions of the library
Foster a culture of collaboration, collegiality, and hospitality in a learning commons atmosphere
Manage budget and finances
Recruit, develop, and lead outstanding library faculty and staff, providing appropriate mentoring and professional development opportunities
Build successful programs and partnerships within the library, across the university and USC system, and with community partners to support student and faculty success
Participate in the statewide academic library consortium

USC Upstate Fast Facts

Minimum Qualifications
ALA accredited MLS or equivalent degree
3-5 years of successful progressive library administrative experience
Record of achievement in librarianship, service, and scholarship commensurate with unit criteria for the full rank of Librarian (unit criteria)
Demonstrated experience leading major change and innovation initiatives
Skill and experience in strategic planning, fiscal planning, and budget and resource management
Demonstrated record of inclusive excellence and delivering equitable outcomes
Demonstrated ability to create a culture of and commitment to student-centered services
Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Second Master's or terminal degree in Library Science or related field
At least 5-7 years' academic library experience at accredited institution(s)
Demonstrated experience pursuing external funding through grants and private fundraising
Experience with physical renovations
Experience serving diverse populations
