CORPORATE & FOUNDATION RELATIONS OFFICER (Administrator I)

Primary Duties:
The Foundation and Corporate Relations Officer reports to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement. The incumbent is responsible for researching, planning and implementing an effective campaign communications program and raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted and restricted projects. Incumbent will collaborate closely with central and college-based development staff and deans, University Communications staff and University leadership across campus to: assess program needs and identify funding opportunities; develop a multi-year campaign communications strategy; create or oversee the creation of print, on-line, and multimedia campaign materials; and write or oversee the writing of select donor communications, including major proposals, appeal and stewardship letters, reports and other ancillary materials for individual, foundation, and corporate donors, government agencies, and campus audiences.

Required Education:

Bachelors degree
AND
A minimum of one year experience in higher education philanthropy or grant writing.

Special Requirements:
  • The person holding this position is considered a Limited Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position. This is considered a sensitive position. Current CSU, Chico employees are subject to a background check (including a criminal record check) if voluntarily moving into a sensitive position, regardless of any background checks previously conducted. Incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of Level 1 data, sometimes also referred to as Level 1 protected data. This is confidential information that is in most cases protected by statutes, regulations, or other legal mandates.
  • This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Drivers License as well continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Drivers Training course.
  • Some overnight travel, evening and weekend work is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position typically alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office which may include standing and bending. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings on and off campus for meetings, interviews and events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The office is a typical office environment with standard office equipment. A fast-paced environment which requires as needed early morning, evening or weekend hours to meet time certain deadlines. Due to the nature of the work additional or irregular hours such as early morning, evening hours, and weekends is required, as well as occasional overnight travel. Locations may include even and uneven walking surfaces, exposure to weather changes such as temperatures, humidity or precipitation.
