Position Description
The Department of Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management in the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management. The appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2023, with faculty on-duty approximately two weeks prior.

Major/Essential Functions
The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management, as well as graduate courses in the College of Media & Communication. The teaching load is four organized courses per academic year (two each for fall and spring semesters), with the possibility of summer teaching with compensation. As a member of the graduate faculty of the College, the position requires a commitment to mentorship and advising of both masters and doctoral students. The appointment comprises 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service. Service to the department, college, university, and discipline is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the sponsored research mission of the department, college, and university by regularly applying for relevant external funding.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in communication, public relations, or a closely related field by August 2023. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of or potential for high-quality research, teaching excellence, the ability to secure external funding for their research, and contributions to a collegial environment. Specifically, candidates should have research and teaching expertise in public relations, strategic communication management, health communication, risk/crisis communication, political communication, or a closely related sub-discipline. Candidates must have a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse populations. In addition, they must be eligible to work as a tenure-track assistant professor in the United States at the time of appointment. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred, as is professional experience in public relations or strategic communication.
