Job Description:



  • Position code: ADJFC

  • Job type: Part-time Adjunct

  • Type of class: Hybrid - Online weekly content and Onsite at 1 Denslow Rd. East Longmeadow, MA approximately every other weekend.

  • Class level: Graduate within the Master's of Occupational Therapy Bridge Program

  • Date class is scheduled to begin: May 6th, 2019

  • Class schedule: Weekly content throughout the semester

  • Duration of class: Classes begin May 6th and end with Final Exam on August 17th.

  • Time of class: 2.5 hours per section (total of 5 hours) approximately every other Saturday during the Summer semester (Summer 2019 Sundays include: May 18, June 1, June 15, June 29, July 20, August 3, and August 17). 8 - 10:30 am and 10:30 am - 1 pm are the meeting times on the stated Saturdays.


Course Description: Students will learn how to assess occupational performance of children from birth to young adult. Standardized and non-standardized assessments will identify performance skills, performance patterns, context or contexts, activity demands, and client factors that can interfere with a client's ability to function in an age appropriate manner. The ability to perceive, plan, and engage in roles, routines, and tasks for the purpose of self-maintenance, education, work, play, leisure, and social participation will be explored. Intervention of performance deficits will be examined based on best practice and evidence-based practice.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Work collaboratively with the MOT Bridge Coordinator and other faculty.

  • Participate in course development.

  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director and other faculty to ensure course meets accreditation standards.

  • Engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience.

  • Adhere to HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.

  • Attend training as required.



Requirements:



  • Degree requirements for position: Current licensure as an OTR

  • Previous teaching experience preferred: within areas of OT and hybrid learning

  • Evidence of engagement in scholarly work.

  • Eligible for applicable professional licensure in Massachusetts.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and administration.

  • Ability to use the University's resources, notably technology, to promote effective teaching and learning.

  • Interest, initiative, and ability to work with the Program Director, department faculty, and administrators for program development, implementation, and outcomes assessment.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Should be committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion.

  • General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose, and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
