Position Description
Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Schedule information/advising appointments with prospective, admitted, and former tech students to provide information about transferring, admission to the regional site, programs and concentrations, scholarships and financial aid, transcript evaluations, etc.
  • Complete degree plans for prospective, admitted, and former tech students by evaluating unofficial/official transcripts often prior to applying to Texas Tech. The degree plans are unofficial & used for planning purposes only.
  • Work closely with advisors and administrators at community college to develop and maintain degree plans and transfer.
  • Work closely with academic advisors in Lubbock to maintain degree audits of current students.
  • Track potential students, student enrollment, and graduation rates for the extended campus.
  • Work with academic advisors on the community college campus to insure understanding of degree pathways.
  • Keep accurate records on all students including maintaining transcripts, registration records, grades (academic warning/probation/suspension), absences reports, military benefits, enrollment requirements, minor approvals, graduation requirements, etc.
  • Attend & participate in recruitment activities include hosting information sessions and receptions, facilitating classroom presentations for prospective students, managing Target X and the Microsoft Teams for effective communication, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the TTU El Paso regional site by performing all other duties as assigned. Assist with the development of marketing materials.
  • Assist in developing course schedules at the extended campus.
  • Assist Director and faculty members in outreach functions as needed, with some evening and weekend events possible. Participate in the regional site and university efforts to retain and graduate a diverse and successful student body.
  • Assure that orientation materials are up-to-date and available. Conduct undergrad orientation programs.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related experience.
  • Proficient in Spanish
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Banner, Xtender, Target X, and (Salesforce) Degree Works.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to make decisions following established regulations and policies.
  • Ability to interact with undergraduate students from widely diverse backgrounds.
  • Two years progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience.
  • One year of advising students in an academic environment.
