Job Summary:
The College of Health Science and Public Health seeks a Lecturer for it's Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The position is a full time, on-line, 9-month per year special faculty appointment, with a possible summer appointment. Position will be filled on or about August 16, 2020. The MPH Lecturer reports to the Chair of the Department of Public Health and Health Services Administration.

The college seeks faculty who are committed to excellence in online instruction using a student-centered approach. The MPH program is housed in the College of Health Science and Public Health based on Eastern's Spokane campus. The College is home to several nationally accredited undergraduate and graduate programs and prepares students to meet the growing market demands in the critical fields of public health, health care and health-related leadership and education.

Teaching responsibilities are fully within the MPH Program, however some collaboration with the undergraduate public health program may be required. This position is a primary instructional role with negotiated expectations for service to meet the needs of the program. Expectations include effective online teaching, research/capstone mentoring, support for student success in applied practical experiences, assessment of learning outcomes, and departmental and College collaboration.

The successful candidate is not required to live in the area. The College is located on Eastern's Spokane Campus, adjacent to downtown Spokane, a regional commercial and health center and maintains an administrative presence in Cheney, a residential suburb and the location of Eastern Washington University's residential campus. Cheney and Spokane are 17 miles apart. Spokane and vicinity offer a wide range of cultural, recreational, dining, shopping and entertainment alternatives as well as extensive affordable housing options. Spokane is home to three universities and to health related, medical and other selective programs from the two state doctoral universities Washington State University and University of Washington. All clinical professions are represented and located on the Spokane campus for the 3 universities. This allows for collaboration with a variety of clinical and health administration disciplines. Spokane offers a high quality network of public and private K-12 schools, an extensive community college system and two major healthcare/hospital systems.

Living costs are below the national average and Washington State does not levy an income tax. Spokane is located on a desert high plateau and enjoys over 220 days of sunshine per year, with average summer time temperatures in the upper 70's and 80's, fewer than 4 feet of snow per year and low humidity. It is the gateway to the Inland Northwest, an hour drive from Lake Coeur d'Alene and a day drive from Glacier Park. Abundant outdoor recreational opportunities are available year round: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking and more. The area offers a wholesome life-style for young families as well as for energetic empty nesters.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty, staff, students and academic program offerings and to strengthening sensitivity to diversity throughout the institution.
