Responsibilities:

NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY announces a search for a full-time lecturer, assistant or associate teaching professor, non-tenure-track, in Recording Arts and Music Production. The Department of Music in the College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University seeks candidates who are prepared to work collaboratively within our Music Industry, Music Technology, BA in Music, and music performance programs, and to extend that collaborative work beyond music to Game Design, the Theatre Department and other areas across the college where audio recording and audio technology come together with other media. The faculty colleague we hire will teach the recording sequence in our curriculum (Recording 1, 2 and 3), coordinate our Music Recording minor, supervise the maintenance and updating of our recording facilities, oversee the recording and visual-audio streaming of department-sponsored musical events, and teach other in the department. Candidates should be committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education. The position has an anticipated start date of fall semester 2018.

Qualifications:

A masters degree and extensive background in the industry is expected. The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience in recording arts specifically, and audio technology more generally, with expertise in all technical and artistic dimensions of the recording and post-production process, along with a background in recording across genres and idioms (popular, jazz, classical, folk, etc.). An ability to teach topics in Music Industry is also desirable, though not required.

The music departments degree offerings include the B.A. in Music, a B.S. in Music Technology, a B.S. in Music Industry, a variety of combined majors in music and other disciplines (including computer science, physics and engineering), a Masters in Music Industry Leadership, a graduate certificate in Arts Administration (in collaboration with other disciplines) and a Performance Certificate in partnership with the New England Conservatory of Music.

The College of Arts, Media and Design has a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art+Design, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre.
