SUMMARY:
The Certification Coordinator II, under general direction, provides coordination and management to unit processes related to educator or vocational certification. Supervises wage and student employees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements certification standards. Discusses, disseminates, and interprets certification requirements with students, staff, faculty, and/or administration.
  • Oversees verification of students successful completion of admission or registration requirements for acceptance into the program and field based studies.
  • Oversees approval of students for Student Teaching and provision of final clearance for certificate application.
  • Oversees submission of data online to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for issuance of students teaching or professional certificates, in addition to confirming completions online.
  • Works closely with data manager to complete data for reporting purposes.
  • Works closely with data manager to maintain TK-20 system related to students and their status in the Teacher Ed Program.
  • Coordinates eligibility status of students registering for the EdTPA and Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) exams or other accredited certifying bodies.
  • Coordinates EdTPA/TExES process to include tracking of student achievement.
  • Serves on committees and participates in faculty meetings to provide information required by faculty and special requests from students.
  • Serves as a liaison between public school district personnel and the University regarding preparation programs that provide verification of University and State rules and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of budget management and strategic planning. Knowledge of a major computer systems used in higher education (i.e., Banner). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Supervisory experience. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to travel. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Educator Certification and Academic Services staff, Administrative Associate, student workers, and graduate assistants.
